A lot of the recipes I found called for spaghetti sauce. Everywhere I looked there were added sugars to it. So I wrote the Dietetic Technician and asked where to find this spaghetti sauce everyone is talking about. She said “Please recommend either homemade spaghetti sauce or Walden Farms”. Then she gave me a recipe for homemade sauce to share. So here’s the breakdown. You have two options for spaghetti sauce.
1. Walden Farms Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce (available here) = 1/4 cup is 1 Condiment
2. Homemade Sauce from scratch, see below recipe for details.
1 Roma Tomato
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/8 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
1/8 teaspoon Salt
Chop tomato into small pieces, put in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave for 1 minute on High. Transfer tomatoes into blender, add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and salt to taste. Blend on high until smooth. Transfer back to bowl, and microwave for 1 additional minute on High.
1 Green, 3 Condiments
